National Scam Hits Home
The Better Business Bureau System warns all businesses and consumers across the United States and Canada of a spoofing scam using the BBB name and a false BBB e-mail address to entice recipients to access potentially damaging hyperlinks. A firm from Kennesaw, GA, had its computer system hacked in mid-February. That firm's system then began generating thousands of counterfeit messages to businesses and consumers, purporting to be a complaint filed with the BBB. The incident was first reported to the BBB serving Columbus, GA and the surrounding area by one its members.

Member Benefit: E-Quote is a Valuable Tool
The BBB provides this service free of charge as a benefit to our members, the consuming public and the business community. Based through our web site, www.iowa.bbb.org, this service allows consumers to do business with Bureau members. For a consumer to get a quote or additional information about available products and services from a member they fill out a form on our web site about the specific type of product or service needed, their geographic parameters and appropriate contact information. The request is then automatically e-mailed to our Bureau members in the type of business specified. It is the responsibility of the member to follow up with the consumer to give the information requested, provide a bid or otherwise contact the consumer as necessary.

Does your business have award-winning integrity?

The past few days I have had the pleasure to call students and businesses to congratulate them on being selected as the 2007 Better Business Bureau Integrity Award Winners. These awards recognized the most outstanding examples of ethics and integrity in our communities.

The winners are not announced until our luncheons in Des Moines and the Quad Cities. Please make sure you have us down for lunch on April 13th at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott and on April 27th at the Bettendorf Holiday Inn. Your BBB will put a spotlight on these noteworthy business and student leaders so we may all be reminded that while WHAT you do and accomplish is important - it matters HOW it is accomplished.
