Visit the BBB at the Fair
It's that time of year again! By the time you are reading this, the BBB staff and board will be manning the Bureau booth at the Iowa State Fair during its l0 day run, August 9 through August 19. This is a great way to get the word out to the public and be proactive in sharing information about membership. With high speed internet access we are able to offer general information and assistance as well as specifically address matters relating to a company's Reliability Report. It is a wonderful opportunity to interact with our members, consumers, businesses, future members and others to educate them on the work and activities of the Bureau.

Ad Reviews
Advertising Review promotes truth in advertising to enhance consumer confidence in businesses that advertise. Following are cases that represent recent advertising review matters your BBB pursued. Challenges made by the BBB, using the BBB Code of Advertising, result from information given by consumers, competitors and through the BBB's own monitoring efforts. The fact that a particular business responds to a BBB challenge is a compliment to their willingness to cooperate with the BBB's self-regulatory process and not to be taken as an admission of impropriety on any advertiser's part.

BBB Members encouraged to share BBB Wise Consumer Tips with Employees

The headlines are discouraging, as rising mortgage interest rates are taking a toll on many homeowners just as the market value of their home is flattening or declining. Mortgage delinquency rates are up and home foreclosures are at a record high in many parts of the country, including in our service area of Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota and Nebraska. For the first time, mortgage related complaints have become the number one issue that BBB's are dealing with around the country.

So what should a business be doing about this problem that affects individuals and families? I am recommending that each member provide employees helpful information on this subject.
