Scam Alert: Sweepstakes Counterfeit Checks
The Better Business Bureau serving SW Idaho and Eastern Oregon recently issued a warning to all Bureaus in the nation regarding a sweepstakes scam using a PO Box in Boise, ID. The BBB in Idaho has been inundated with out of state callers that have been informed that they are about to receive over $79,000 in unclaimed sweepstakes winnings.

Visit the BBB at the Iowa State Fair
Once again this year, your BBB will participate at the Iowa State Fair. Stop by and see us at the Better Business Bureau booth in the northwest corner of the Varied Industries Building. The fair dates are August 10 through August 20, 2006. Bureau staff members will man the booth during the entire 10 day run of the fair. With computer access we are able to answer consumer questions and inquires about local and national businesses. Last year the Bureau gave out thousands of information cards and candy suckers for our, "Don't Get Suckered" campaign. The BBB places a high priority on disseminating accurate, viable information to help consumers and businesses make informed decisions in today's marketplace. The presence of the BBB at the Fair sends a strong message to the public and raises awareness of your company's membership in the Bureau! Plan to visit us at the fair, enjoy a sucker and enter for a chance to win our daily drawing for a paper shredder.

Congratulations, BBB, on a wonderful silver anniversary.

One of the best and largest consumer services in the country is now 25 years old. The BBB Auto Line is one of the first examples of out-of-court consumer dispute resolution in the U.S. and is one of the largest programs of its kind in the world. The BBB program was first tested by General Motors in the late l970's and Ford Motor Company is the latest addition.
